gown sketches. time to decide

finally met with my 2 potential designers last saturday. i wasn't expecting much since i'm the type of bride who isn't into the frilly details of the wedding. as long as i have a nice dress, within my budget, i'm happy. :)

designer 1: met with him at 1pm. at first hubby and i thought that we're in the wrong place since we were expecting a shop with a window display. but considering we were in a residential area, it wasn't so. desinger's place was an apartment type. i had to call him up to make sure we were at the exact address. the place looked like there was no one there. but after ringing the doorbell, we were met by one of the helpers.

and then our meeting began. i brought with me my laptop since all my wedding pegs are there. i had to apologize because my laptop was taking too long to load. after a few minutes or so, i showed my peg for the gown. basically i wanted a halter type gown. i mentioned that i don't want too much beadwork and lace since obviously i'm not the girly girl type. i'm more of the constructed kind type.

i let him start with the sketches. so far so good. here's what he came up for the front of the gown:
lace and beadworks are ok, but looks ok for me. and i also mentioned that he has to make sure that it would have a little slimming effect especially in my tummy area.

here's the detail at the back:

pros: i liked the back detail. the highlight of the details at the back. the swirls and the other eye catching details.
cons: a bit iffy in terms of the beadwork. after going over the photos, it seemed like there was too much beadwork going on. but over-all, it looked really nice.

when hubby saw the sketch after, he liked it especially the backless detail. his only question: "makakasuot ka pa ba ng bra nyan?" hahaha he has a point!

designer 2: met with her around 330pm. from manila to new manila qc. we waited a few minutes since she was still in a meeting with another client. he shop was also her home so it had this homey feel. and while waiting we were seeing her modistas in action. there were also sample works/gowns displayed. and i was impressed.

finally met her. she was really really pleasant. again, i had to open my laptop and show her my peg. while i was explaining to her, she was already sketching. after which she was also explaining that she had to modify the design a bit. again i mentioned i wanted a halter type top for my gown. she asked me if i was ok with structured gowns. i was totally fine with it. i told her i was more inclided to the design that the beadworks and lace.

she sketched aroudn 3 designs but the first sketch was the one i liked best:

front part: halter top with tube on the inside and outside would be chiffon with a flower accent. for the belt part, it's an obi belt with the middle part in purple as highlight.

back part: the purple part of the obi belt would then expand to a bigger bow at the back. at first she wanted it the same length as the gown but due to my budget, we agreed to have it end in the middle.

designer 2 personally loved this peg. she fell in love with the flower accent. again due to my given budget, she agreed to adjust a few details but will not let go of the flower accent. her point is that even in front, there's still a little drama and accent going on.

now, i have to decide, which designer to get. and i have until this week to let them know. but i'm already leaning towards designer 2 since her design was more into the vintage theme that we wanted.

designer 1 would still remain, but he'll be the one to create my MOB and MOG, and FG gowns instead. hitting two birds with one stone.

now, i can't wait for the first fitting and fabric pegs/swatches!

my wedding is finally happening! hurrah!

187 days

187 days.

theknotcom kept reminding me how many days are left before the big day. and deep inside, i'm panicking.

there's still a lot to take care of.

the cake- what to choose, a 2 layered one or turn them all into cupcakes and have one small one for the cake cutting.

the invitations - the design, the wordings. but i just want one that's simple. really, is there anyone out there who keeps all the wedding invitations they get?

my gown - starting to schedule meetings with my 3 choices for designers. but i already have one in mind and hopefully, i get a good price for it.

save the date - specifically given out to important people such as our principal sponsors.

the shoes - lusting over a pair at stella luna, but the price is quite stellar as well. so good luck to me in buying that pair. i'm still iffy about those suppliers who customize shoes.

but on the upside, a few things we just need to finalize:

final food tasting and layout of our table set up - scheduled in july

the rings - almost done with the full payment and hopefully to get them before our wedding day. to try them on.

for now, these are the things that ae worrying me more.

i'd rather not think about the DIY projects i have to do. since these are still up in the air.

goodluck to us!
