an ocular of some sorts

hubby and i had a chance to hit 2 birds with one stone. work and wedding preps wise.

this afternoon, he met with the sales director of Lancaster Suites . they first talked about business.

after a few minutes, Ms. Angie Vicencio, toured us of the available rooms that we might be interested in for the hotel preps. it was a splendid hotel. not too high class, not too tourist-y type too. it was a perfect match. a middle ground for the church and venue.

anyway, we got to see a two bedroom suite which was loft type, a three bedroom suite, loft type as well. we didn't get a chance to see the presidential room, which was 3x bigger than the three bedroom suite, which means more room. (which i personally liked).

considering the amount of people who will pour in the hotel during the preps, hubby and i thought that we have to get the presidential suite. IF budget permits. price-wise, it's a steal for 6,500++ a night. not bad for a presidential room rate right? now all we need is to negotiate on some costs and hopefully get a good deal. AFTER we see the room itself.

ms, angie was really kind and gracious. today was only our first meeting but it felt like we've known her for a long time. after thanking her, she was even kind enough to even invite me over for lunch the next time i drop by the hotel. which is not far from the idea since i need to talk to her as well, this time for work! haha

it feels good that wedding preps are slowly falling into place and somehow, the funds are slowly cooperating with us.

5 months or so to go, and this is it!

time to choose: monograms

i asked the help of Aleng to create options for our monograms.

all we need to do now is to decide. which among these monograms would work well for our thank you cards, layout for the PS souvenirs, placecards/seatnumbers etc.

while choosing, please think vintage. :)

here we go!

again, a big thanks to Aleng for sharing her creativity, talent and time to her fellow w@wies. thank you for your kindness!

gown sketches. time to decide

finally met with my 2 potential designers last saturday. i wasn't expecting much since i'm the type of bride who isn't into the frilly details of the wedding. as long as i have a nice dress, within my budget, i'm happy. :)

designer 1: met with him at 1pm. at first hubby and i thought that we're in the wrong place since we were expecting a shop with a window display. but considering we were in a residential area, it wasn't so. desinger's place was an apartment type. i had to call him up to make sure we were at the exact address. the place looked like there was no one there. but after ringing the doorbell, we were met by one of the helpers.

and then our meeting began. i brought with me my laptop since all my wedding pegs are there. i had to apologize because my laptop was taking too long to load. after a few minutes or so, i showed my peg for the gown. basically i wanted a halter type gown. i mentioned that i don't want too much beadwork and lace since obviously i'm not the girly girl type. i'm more of the constructed kind type.

i let him start with the sketches. so far so good. here's what he came up for the front of the gown:
lace and beadworks are ok, but looks ok for me. and i also mentioned that he has to make sure that it would have a little slimming effect especially in my tummy area.

here's the detail at the back:

pros: i liked the back detail. the highlight of the details at the back. the swirls and the other eye catching details.
cons: a bit iffy in terms of the beadwork. after going over the photos, it seemed like there was too much beadwork going on. but over-all, it looked really nice.

when hubby saw the sketch after, he liked it especially the backless detail. his only question: "makakasuot ka pa ba ng bra nyan?" hahaha he has a point!

designer 2: met with her around 330pm. from manila to new manila qc. we waited a few minutes since she was still in a meeting with another client. he shop was also her home so it had this homey feel. and while waiting we were seeing her modistas in action. there were also sample works/gowns displayed. and i was impressed.

finally met her. she was really really pleasant. again, i had to open my laptop and show her my peg. while i was explaining to her, she was already sketching. after which she was also explaining that she had to modify the design a bit. again i mentioned i wanted a halter type top for my gown. she asked me if i was ok with structured gowns. i was totally fine with it. i told her i was more inclided to the design that the beadworks and lace.

she sketched aroudn 3 designs but the first sketch was the one i liked best:

front part: halter top with tube on the inside and outside would be chiffon with a flower accent. for the belt part, it's an obi belt with the middle part in purple as highlight.

back part: the purple part of the obi belt would then expand to a bigger bow at the back. at first she wanted it the same length as the gown but due to my budget, we agreed to have it end in the middle.

designer 2 personally loved this peg. she fell in love with the flower accent. again due to my given budget, she agreed to adjust a few details but will not let go of the flower accent. her point is that even in front, there's still a little drama and accent going on.

now, i have to decide, which designer to get. and i have until this week to let them know. but i'm already leaning towards designer 2 since her design was more into the vintage theme that we wanted.

designer 1 would still remain, but he'll be the one to create my MOB and MOG, and FG gowns instead. hitting two birds with one stone.

now, i can't wait for the first fitting and fabric pegs/swatches!

my wedding is finally happening! hurrah!

187 days

187 days.

theknotcom kept reminding me how many days are left before the big day. and deep inside, i'm panicking.

there's still a lot to take care of.

the cake- what to choose, a 2 layered one or turn them all into cupcakes and have one small one for the cake cutting.

the invitations - the design, the wordings. but i just want one that's simple. really, is there anyone out there who keeps all the wedding invitations they get?

my gown - starting to schedule meetings with my 3 choices for designers. but i already have one in mind and hopefully, i get a good price for it.

save the date - specifically given out to important people such as our principal sponsors.

the shoes - lusting over a pair at stella luna, but the price is quite stellar as well. so good luck to me in buying that pair. i'm still iffy about those suppliers who customize shoes.

but on the upside, a few things we just need to finalize:

final food tasting and layout of our table set up - scheduled in july

the rings - almost done with the full payment and hopefully to get them before our wedding day. to try them on.

for now, these are the things that ae worrying me more.

i'd rather not think about the DIY projects i have to do. since these are still up in the air.

goodluck to us!

shoes!

i've been on the lookout for the perfect purple shoes for my wedding, and i'm stuck. i've got a lot of photos over the net and i don't know which one to choose to have customized. yes, if i can't purchase it online, i'm going to have it custom made. :)

now, help me choose:

the studs are fab! but it doesn't work with our 1920's theme. but the color, to die for!

choices, choices, choices...

DIY: save the date

made this a while ago. our simple save the date cards to be given to our invited guests.

i was initially having second thoughts on creating one, but considering our date falls after the long weekend, it might be a good idea that friends and family might start filing their leaves early.

anyway, here's the simple STD card i made. now the dilemma, will i make it into a magnet or just have it printed as a digital photo?

looking for the perfect dress

close friends would know that i'm a fuss free person. as much as possible, i avoid dresses, high heels and anything frilly and girly. because i'm not. i've been known to be one of the boys. the one who's more comfortable being with boys than girls - unless of course these girls are MY girls. good friends i have known since forever. i usually have a hard time striking up conversations with girls.

well anyway, back to the frills and everything girly.

since this is our, my special day, one special day in my life where i get to be a girl and get all dolled up. and with a lot of effort, i've scouted the web for inspiration for my wedding dress.

i was gunning for something vintage, classic yet uniquely my own. here are a few designs i've sent to potential designers. the one with the best quote and execution, wins the bidding! LOL

doesn't the model look like drew barrymore? i love the vintage feel of this dress, but where will i put my purple accents?

this one has the most perfect in terms of where purple accents should go. and the back detail, lovely! i'm just not too convinced about the tons of lace going on.

vintage and simple. but the worry here is, baka masapawan naman ako ng bridesmaids ko. and that's a scary thought. hehe

again, vintage and simple. but too much lace. and i'm a bit worried on how to cover up those flabs.

now all i need is to choose which one. i have my 2 favorite now, i'm just waiting for the day when "boom!" the dress will suddenly make an impact on me and say "i'm your wedding dress!"

mood board #2

with additional colors to make the motif more lively. silver will be the accent color.
the best mood board so far.

florist booked!

we got the flower power!

yes, that's the name of our florist. :) and they're the coolest bunch ever! one of our requirements in our suppliers is being super kalog and they fit the bill. sobra sobra pa actually.

i met jenny during the birthday of one of our kumpares. they also handle a mobile bar. and if memory serves me right, they were one if not the pioneers of the mobile bar business. we bonded over their mixes and found out that she's a fellow kulasa. so we instantly felt a bond. tawa pa lang namin, solb na.

we lost touch after that. then i found out that our coorintor, peeya is a close friend of jenny. so big plus already for us.

we met with them last sunday at a spur of the moment decision. after paying the 25% DP of oasis, peeya just called jenny and good thing they were on their way to their shop at dangwa. so off we went.

first we just wanted to see the samples of their work. which was pretty good and quite unconventional. which earned another points for us!

met with her hubby ryan who, surpisingly was the one who knew more about flowers than the rest of us combined. initial meeting pa lang, he already knew what i wanted based on my personality. and plsu points for them since jenny and i adore purple so much so it was much easier since we used their wedding as our peg.

i won't go into details of our flowers since it's going to be a surprise. you'll see the finished products during the wedding day.

sorry i didn't post pictures of them. i'm sure there'll be lots of moments to share with them since we'll bug them until the wedding day. but keri nila since they're one of the coolest suppliers we had.

look for flower power when you drop by dangwa. they're just across from chowking. just head inside the stalls and you'll know it's them. you'll see the purple walls. :)

Photo Video: ExtremeDetails Booked!

hubby and i attended a wedding fair yesterday. it wasn't a lot of suppliers there but we were successful in finally bookin our one last major supplier.

i initially knew about them and heard good reviews from the wedding e-groups i am a member of. i visited their site, sent an inquiry and requested them to pencil book us. good thing they were there at the wedding fair. hubby and i ambushed them with our lists of demands and requirements. thankfully, they were able to provide them. Merl was easy to talk to. i was hoping to meet sit edu but he was out on a wedding coverage.

after a few negotiations, we signed the contract, booked them and got amazing freebies! we got a free pre nup album, guestbook, and 10 photo gallery standee which will be shown in the reception. and the best part of the package is, we will get all the raw files! comapred to other suppliers, they don't do that. but good thing, our supplier provides that. i actually asked if we will get the raw files of our photos and i didn't expect to get raw files of everything! good deal indeed!

now i'm off to the bank to settle the downpayment.

off to focus and search for the minr suppliers!
big yay for hubby and i :)

back from the dead

i totally forgot that i have a wedding preps blog created a few years back. i guess now is the time to revive this blog since we're finally on our way to our dream wedding this year.

the date has been set: November 30, 2010
the church has been found: NSDG
the venue has been booked: Oasis

a separate post on each will be created.

i just hope i can maintain this along with my other online accounts. LOL
